I wrote the same in a recent blog.

A 2020 PNAS study analyzing these records showed that immigrants, including undocumented, were, per capita, 50% as likely to be arrested for violent crimes as citizens, 40% as likely for drug-related offences, and 25% as likely for theft and property related offences. Cato Institute estimates align with this, finding that in 2023, US citizens, aged 18-54, had an incarceration rate of 1.2%, while undocumented immigrants of the same age range in the US had an incarceration rate of 0.6%. Legal immigrants had an even lower incarceration rate of 0.3%.
