My critique out of the box is that the same claim was made of poor, lower-skilled Italian and Irish immigrants in the early 1900's. The same issues of technology were just as much a part of the conversation during the rise of the Industrial Era as they are now. The "permanent underclass" didn't end up so permanently under over time. There may always be an underclass, but they will not always be the same people, the same families, the same ethnicities.

Given how foreign aid has been slashed and mass deportations started since then, I wonder what Salam says now, or if he has realized there is no place for his views in Trumpworld.

No doubt there is an interesting case to be made against murder for hire, but since no one is proposing it, why bother?
