Individuals as Miller are evil, as in Hannah Arendt's banality of evil. They are driven by hate and authortiarian values as part of the tribalistic human nature
"He doesn't like immigration, and he's a committed enforcer of immigration laws."
I'm glad you mentioned Miller because I was going to comment about this. I still disagree with this specific sentence. Trump dislikes immigration but he's not that committed to it, becasue he's not really that committed to anything in particular beyond himself. The fact that he unwittingly stumbled into supporting the mainstream Democratic Party position on immigration shows that.
But Stephen Miller is committed to it very deeply and he has had an unusually consistent relationship with Trump since the beginning. He is still going to be spending a lot more time in the weeds on the issue than Trump is, so it's probably correct that nothing will really soften in terms of actual policy or enforcement unless he leaves or gets usurped in some way.
I 100% agree. It’s all about Miller on this issue.
Make Immigration Free Again ! :)

“unless a more strident nativist were appointed in his place.”
More strident than Miller???
