The annual chance of being murdered in a foreign‐born terrorist attack in the United States was about 1 in 4.5 million during the 1975–2023 period, according to my new policy analyst published by the Cato Institute. During that time, 230 foreign‐born terrorists murdered 3,046 people in attacks on US soil.
So this is misleading, not because the numbers are wrong or the analysis incorrect, but because this is a 2006 argument being made in 2024. I know it comes up still, but it is in my mind just as an echo of the past.
In the US the largest concern is not terrorism today, but increases of petty crime and interpersonal violence with illegal immigrants. The other issue of course is deaths due to drug trade.
As someone who wants less illegal immigration and more legal immigration, analysis focused on this area of concern would be most useful to me.
