We will see what will happen once the raids and deportations start. I have no idea but it will change everything. To a great extent I think there’s no point in thinking much until after the inauguration, we just don’t know. (Though for my money it will be terrible.)

I suspect that this will be true. But to be fair, there are a lot of legal immigrants who resent "illegal" immigrants for taking shortcuts.

Unironically, yes.

45% is less then 50%, and less then the white vote share.

It’s nice, but this is thermostatic. I’ve seen the Hispanic vote share oscillate between in my lifetime. gWB got 40%.

I think that the change in the gop (which btw made it more left wing on economics) moved the center point of the oscillation five points (ten if we are generous).

The most optimistic case I could make is that the strong right wing cultures in Florida and Texas are assimilating Hispanics to more right wing values, delaying the Texas flips blue to a point that the dems shouldn’t bank on it.

This argument should be reframed to conservatives that, based upon the 2024 presidential election, Repubs gained more politically from immigration of Hispanics in last 10 years than Dems. Based on this piece, you should be able to make such an argument. Yes?

Legal Immigration where we know who is coming in - good - Current situation - Horrible - many should be sent back to send a message crime bosses and other illegal immigrants.
